What the Uppercase Converter does
Paste or type your text and the result appears in the output box at once, in capital letters. Spaces, line breaks, numbers and punctuation stay exactly as they were, and only letters that have a capital form change. The tool works with accented and non-Latin alphabets that have upper and lower case, such as Greek and Cyrillic.
When to use all caps
- Short headings, labels, buttons and signs where capitals add emphasis.
- Codes, abbreviations and identifiers that must be uppercase, such as country or product codes.
- Data clean-up, for example making names or codes consistent before you compare or import them.
- Legal and form text that is traditionally written in capitals.
When to avoid it
Long passages in capitals are slower to read, because the words lose their shape, and many people read all caps as shouting. Keep emails, social posts and body text in normal case. If you only need to capitalize the first letter of sentences, use the Case Converter, and for headlines use the Title Case Converter.
Special letters
A few letters change length when capitalized. For example, the German letter “ß” becomes “SS”, so the result can be longer than the original. The tool also does not apply language-specific rules, such as the Turkish dotted capital “İ”, so check text in those languages by eye. Need the reverse? The Lowercase Converter turns text back to small letters.
Frequently asked questions
Will numbers and symbols change?
No. Only letters change. Numbers, punctuation and emojis stay the same.
Is writing in all caps bad?
All caps can read as shouting and is harder to read in long passages. It works well for short labels, headings and acronyms.
Does it keep my line breaks and spacing?
Yes. Only the letters change. Line breaks, blank lines, spaces and tabs are left as they are.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for all caps?
Many word processors have one, such as Shift+F3 in Word, but not every app does. This tool works anywhere because you paste your text into it and copy the result back.
