What the Lowercase Converter does

Paste or type your text and every letter turns into its small form, with the result shown in the output box straight away. Spaces, line breaks, numbers and punctuation are left alone, and accented and non-Latin letters that have a lowercase form are converted too.

Good uses for lowercase text

  • Fixing text that was typed with Caps Lock on. Then use the Case Converter if you also want a capital at the start of each sentence.
  • Making data consistent before you compare, sort or de-duplicate it, such as email addresses, tags or keywords.
  • Preparing text for URLs, file names and code, where lowercase is the common convention. The Slug Generator also removes punctuation and spaces.
  • Normalizing search terms and keyword lists before you paste them into an ad or SEO tool.

Things to check afterwards

  • Names, places and acronyms lose their capitals (“London” becomes “london”, “NASA” becomes “nasa”). Fix these by hand if they matter.
  • The first letter of every sentence will be lowercase too. Use Sentence case in the Case Converter if you need normal writing.
  • Email addresses and domain names are usually not case-sensitive, but the part before the @ sign may be on some systems, so keep the original if in doubt.
