How the hashtags are made

Type keywords separated by commas, or paste a whole caption. The generator turns your keywords into hashtags and then adds related ones from topic lists and a few common combinations, for example adding words like “lover”, “daily” or “vibes” to a keyword. It does not use live trending data, so treat the list as a starting point and check each tag on the platform.

Settings

  • Platform: Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn or YouTube. Choosing one sets a sensible number of hashtags: 15 for Instagram, 5 for TikTok, 2 for X, 4 for LinkedIn and 3 for YouTube.
  • How many: from 1 to 30.
  • Style: #lowercase, or #CamelCase, which is easier to read and works better with screen readers.
  • Popular tags for the platform, such as #fyp on TikTok, are added at the end of the list.

Choosing hashtags that help

  • Mix broad tags, which reach more people, with specific ones, where you can stand out.
  • Look each tag up before you use it. Make sure it means what you think and is not tied to something unrelated.
  • Use the number the platform works well with. More is not always better, and platforms differ.
  • Reuse a small set of branded or topic hashtags so that your posts group together.
  • Remove duplicates. Counting characters? Use the Instagram Character Counter or the TikTok Caption Counter.

Tip

If you paste a long caption with no commas, the tool pulls out its most frequent words and phrases and builds hashtags from them. Write your main topic in your own words first, then edit the suggestions.

Frequently asked questions

How many hashtags should I use?

Instagram allows 30 but suggests 3–5 relevant ones. TikTok captions work well with 3–5, X with 1–2, and LinkedIn with 3–5.

Are these trending hashtags?

No. They are generated from your keywords using common patterns. Check a hashtag on the platform to see how popular and relevant it is before using it.

Are these hashtags trending?

No. They are generated from your keywords and common word combinations, not from live data, so check popularity on the platform before posting.

Why does the number of hashtags change when I pick a platform?

Each platform has its own recommended amount, so the tool sets a sensible default. You can change it in “How many”.
