What it generates

Fill in the form and the tool writes the HTML for the head of your page, ready to copy or download:

  • Primary tags: the title, the meta description, the canonical link and the robots tag.
  • Open Graph tags, which control the title, description, image and name that appear when your page is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp.
  • X (Twitter) card tags, for a rich preview when the page is shared on X.

The fields

  • Page title and Meta description: the text for search results and social previews. Keep them close to the recommended lengths.
  • Page URL (canonical): the preferred address of the page. It tells search engines which version to index if the same content is reachable at several addresses.
  • Share image URL: the picture for social shares. The recommended size is 1200 × 630 pixels.
  • Site name, X (Twitter) handle and Author (optional).
  • Page type (og:type): Website, Article or Product.
  • Search engines: Index and follow, Don’t index but follow links, Index but don’t follow links, or neither.

How to use the output

  • Copy the HTML and paste it between the <head> and </head> tags of your page.
  • Replace the sample values with the details of each page. Every page needs its own title, description and canonical URL.
  • Check the lengths with the Meta Title Checker and Meta Description Checker.
  • Test your social preview with the sharing debugger of each platform after you publish.

Common mistakes

  • “Don’t index” left on by accident. This keeps a page out of search results entirely.
  • A canonical URL that points to a different page or to a page that redirects.
  • Using the same title and description on every page.
  • A share image that is too small, which social networks may crop or ignore.
  • Relative image or page URLs. Use full addresses beginning with https://.

Frequently asked questions

What are Open Graph tags?

Open Graph tags control how a page looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and many other apps — including the title, description and preview image.

Do I need the meta keywords tag?

No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for years, so this generator does not include it.

What size should my share image be?

Use 1200 × 630 pixels for the best results across Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

Does adding these tags guarantee better rankings?

No. They help search engines and social networks understand and present your page, but rankings depend mostly on the quality and relevance of your content.

Is the HTML escaped properly?

Yes. Characters such as “&” and quotes in your text are escaped, so the tags remain valid HTML.
